Gannett-Owned KARE Purchases NewsTicker Closings Powered by Freedom
August 20, 2009

Gannett-owned KARE (Minneapolis) has selected Newsroom's industry-leading NewsTicker and Freedom graphics platform for school closings. The NBC affiliate joins sister-stations WXIA and WATL (Atlanta), WKYC (Cleveland), KSDK (St. Louis), WZZM (Grand Rapids, MI), WBIR (Knoxville, TN), WFMY (Greensboro, NC), WMAZ (Macon, GA), and the Detroit Free Press (Detroit) as a NewsTicker client.

"NewsTicker and the FreedomHD is a proven asset in the Gannett group," said Rick Summers, Newsroom's Vice President for Sales and Marketing. "While Gannett has centralized graphics for day-to-day news production, NewsTicker changes far less frequently. By using the FreedomHD with NewsTicker, you don't have to compromise on features or customer service, and it still fits well into Gannett's mission of efficiency through centralized services."

KARE is owned by Gannett Co. Inc. (NYSE: GCI). Gannett Broadcasting operates 23 television stations reaching 20-million households. Gannett publishes 84 daily newspapers in the U.S. including USA TODAY, making it the largest newspaper published in the country.
