Raycom Media has purchased NewsTicker for newly-built
WMBF
(Myrtle Beach, SC). The station will launch as an NBC affiliate on
August 8, 2008, the day NBC will broadcast the opening ceremonies of the 2008
Summer Olympics.
WMBF, which will sign-on without an analog signal, will use Newsroom's
cutting-edge FreedomHD graphics platform to display NewsTicker's integrated
suite of ticker and master control branding.
In addition to the standard NewsTicker content management platform, they have
purchased NewsTicker Elections, the industry's most feature-rich election
reporting system.
"WMBF was in the unique and enviable position of being able to build a station
from scratch, and choosing vendors based on merit versus working around
existing investments," said Rick Summers, Newsroom's Vice President for Sales
and Marketing. "The engineers knew from other Raycom stations the reputation
of NewsTicker, and three of the four news managers selecting the system had
come from non-Raycom stations that used NewsTicker. This not only speaks to
our technology, but also our commitment to growing the product after the sale."
WMBF joins 15 other sister stations who use NewsTicker for everything from
ticker and master control branding, to school closings and severe weather.
Raycom Media, Inc. is an employee-owned company and one of the nation's
largest broadcasters. They currently own and operate 46 television stations
in 18 states. Raycom stations cover 12% of U.S. television
households and employ 3,500 individuals in full and part-time positions.
