WLIO (Lima, OH) has purchased NewsTicker, Closings and Elections to
power edge graphics for their SD and HD channels. They join sister-station
WDRB as a client.
WLIO will use Newsroom's powerful Freedom platform to generate native SD and
HD graphics. In addition to their NBC affiliation, WLIO also runs CW
programming on their digital transmission. NewsTicker will allow them to
brand the messaging differently while still maintaining a single point of
entry.
WLIO's 6:00 and 11:00 newscasts rank first in the nation by household shares,
at 63 and 65 respectively. They consistently rank among the top ten in the
nation in NBC-affiliated household shares watching sign-on to sign-off.
"Lima may be a small market, but in many respects the bar is set higher at
WLIO since so many people in their community are watching and counting on them,"
said Rick Summers, Newsroom's Vice President for Sales and Marketing.
"Without a doubt, NewsTicker is well suited for any size market since its
design is about promoting operational efficiency. We understand the unique
demands many small-market stations are under, and address that through our
technology and services."
WLIO is owned by Block Communications, a 105-year-old privately held,
diversified media holding company headquartered outside of Toledo, Ohio.
Its properties include Buckeye Cablevision and Buckeye Telesystems, the Blade
of Toledo and Pittsburgh (PA) Post-Gazette newspapers, five television
stations, a home alarm company, and Metro Fiber and Cable Construction.
