WQAD Reinvests in NewsTicker; Upgrade Includes SevereWx, Closings and the FreedomHD
January 14, 2008

WQAD (Moline, IL) has overhauled their existing NewsTicker system and purchased SevereWx and Closings to yield a completely integrated platform. They have also acquired a FreedomHD to execute their on-air presentation. WQAD originally purchased NewsTicker in 1999.

"Through the years, we've continued to innovate, evolve existing product and introduce new product that satisfies a growing niche in local broadcasting," said Drew Hahn, Newsroom's Vice President for Research and Development. "Clients like WQAD stay with Newsroom despite loss-leading, low-cost and, in some cases, free alternatives because they aren't willing to compromise. We are an investment in a quality, long-term solution."

WQAD is owned by Local TV, LLC, a subsidiary of Oak Hill Capital Partners, a private equity firm with more than $4.6-billion of committed capital from leading entrepreneurs, endowments, foundations, corporations, pension funds and global financial institutions. In purchasing the New York Times' Broadcast Media Group, Local TV acquired WQAD, as well as eight other network-affiliated television stations.
